Sarah Hopkins

Sarah Hopkins was found in Causeway Lane behind Upton Fire Station on 18 November 2019.

A murder enquiry was opened but on 26 February 2021 the police said that they were taking no further action. A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder but later released.

An open verdict was returned at her inquest.

Earlier on, on 15 November 2019, whilst in the Drum and Monkey pub in Upton she had used her Facebook account and written the message, 'Pals cheering me up after a s*** week, I have the best friends'.

She had been out on a night out on 17 November 2019, having visited a number of pubs with friends and was found the following morning.

The police carried out a fingertip search of the area after which the man was arrested, however, he was later released.

The cause of Sarah Hopkins's death was described as a mystery.

She had been a barmaid.
